The Brazilian virtuoso flautist and saxophonist Carlos Malta makes a brief stopover in the Netherlands and provides 29th of June a single and unique concert in LantarenVenster Rotterdam/The Netherands.
For this particular evening he will prepare with his music friend guitarist/composer Jan Dumee a surprising program entitled ‘A Escala’ (‘The Stopover’).
This program includes own work in Malta and Dumee.
For this evening they gather some friends and renowned Dutch musicians for a great musical adventure with lots of improvisation and surprising twists!
Carlos and Jan met eachother for the first time in ’91 in the home of Hermeto Pascoal in Rio de Janeiro and from which they created their first project A Combinação Malta / Dumee in ’98.
Malta previously made headlines when Hermeto Pascoal (July 7th in LantarenVenster) and his own group Pife Muderno.
He also played with other greats such as Pat Metheny, Gil Evans, Sergio Mendes, Gilberto Gil and the latest Snarky Puppy album Family Dinner Vol.2.
Dumee participated in the great revival of Focus in 2001, and thus played in over 30 countries around the world.
As eclectic guitarist and connoisseur of Brazilian musical culture, he made several albums including O Septeto Plus and the Dumee & Dijkgraaf Quinteto which can boast international critical acclaim.
